Modesto will be finally getting an Apple Store.  The new addition to the Vintage Faire Mall, The Village at Vintage Faire, in Modesto is confirmed to include an Apple Store.  Apple’s job website notes job openings available at Vintage Faire Mall and popular Apple retail store blog ifoAppleStore confirms the Apple Store ID. It’s rumored to open 1st quarter of 2009.

MacDaddy computers, which also owns a store in Fresno, has been the main service center for Mac users in the Modesto metro area for people who don’t feel like (or don’t have time to) travel to Fresno or Sacramento Apple Stores. The Modesto Bee reports that the owner of MacDaddy does not see the new store as a threat to his business. I know some people, however, that wouldn’t mind seeing them (MacDaddy) disappear.

A friend of mine who was new to Macs and was interested in the iMac went to MacDaddy to check it out.  He asked one of the guys there, “This monitor is so clear and thin, but where is the computer.”  The semi-douche assistant scoffed at him and responded condescendingly, “Uhm, that is the computer.”  My friend was confused and pressed on further for more of an explanation. The guy ended up sighing, shaking his head and walking away. Hopefully that was just an isolated experience.

At any rate, I’ve been to several Apple Retail Stores and have always had outstanding customer service.  Looking forward to the new store!
