Modesto’s Rock Station 96.7 is BACK!

By : Roy

Rock is returning as the new format for KMRQ 96.7!  For the past 2 or so years it’s been La Preciosa, a nationally syndicated Spanish radio station. We’ve subsequently had rock drained completely from our souls and have had to listen to artists like Michelle Branch, John Mayer and those silly, no-sex-till-marraige, wanna-be-Beatles, douche-tools the Jonas Brothers.

Rock967.com, is still branded with La Preciosa, but links are disabled so methinks they are getting ready to switch the site back over.

Glad to have you back!  **BEAR HUG**

UPDATE: The switch is set to take place Friday at 5pm.

UPDATE 2: Website is down for maintenance, should be back up soon (probably by 5) for Rock96.7 listeners.

Update 3: Website is up at this address: http://rock967.com/main.html

Oh my god. I turned on the radio today and there it was. 96.7 is back and rocking out again. It’s about freakin time. I’m getting tired of B93.1 and 104.1 the hawk. We can finally rock out again for the first time in like 2 fucking years. Thank you for whoever was responsible for getting this back on the air. A big thanks to you. Rock will never die

About time. This is why I hate corporate radio. Did they think we needed a 19th spanish language 2 years ago?

They screw us over and over, yet now they expect us to come running back to them. Don’t be fooled folks- they only changed back because the spanish competition was too tough and the ratings sucked.

I feel like giving them the big F.U. like they gave me, and not listening.

I almost cried a few years back when I turned on 96.7 and heard some spanish nonsense music. I used to listen to Rick Roddam at night, when he’d go on his Budweiser beer run and we’d request 3 songs in a row.

Now it’s back on and I’m stoked!! \m/

I couldn’t believe my frickin ears when I turned to 96.7 at the request of my nephew’s friend. I was seriously pissed when Mexico took over the airwaves. Adios motherfuckers, go back to where you came from and take your aggrivating marachi shit with you. I sure hope that Rick Roddam comes back for his Budweiser Beer runs at night. \m/ METAL UP YOUR ASSES!!!!!!

Hey Rock 96.7, i’m glad you guys are back in action, I took a Introduction to Radio Production class at MJC and before i was even half way through the course I got to do my own radio show at Stan State, I did my show for 2 weeks but I had some rough times in my life and i coudn’t afford to drive to turlock for a unpaid job, i wish i could have kept doing it, it is my dream to be a rock radio personality, i’ll do anything, starting from the bottom or the top, i have the voice, the attitude and the technical knowledge i need to run a radio show on your staton, please r.s.v.p., (209)622-8228

WOW, great to see racism is alive and well in the valley. Taco truck music? hat dancin donkey riddin peach pickin low pant wearin music??

Anyway, i was getting pretty tired of listening to 98.5 from Sac so this is a nice change.

yea i’m not really happy to see that either. My point was the fact that they’ve had this battle off and on again with this format. Taking rock away, bringing it back. I don’t want this to be some power struggle between the races, I just want to note that I do like rock and that it is interesting how it can never stay alive here.

WE ARE SO GLAD THE ROCK STATION IS BACK! THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT SEEMS TO HAVE FALLEN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE…WHERE’S ALL THE NEW ROCK??!!??!! NO OFFENSE, BUT THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH METALLICA, DISTURBED & GODSMACK THAT WE CAN HANDLE IN A SINGLE HOUR, OR DAY FOR THAT MATTER. I HAVE YET TO HEAR ONE ROCK SONG FROM A NEWER ROCK BAND. I THOUGHT WE WOULD FINALLY GET SOME BAY OR LA TYPE THING GOIN HERE….THAT WOULD BE NICE……..

It’s to bad (I was so pissed off that day) I tore up my 96.7 sticker when I heard Spainsh music coming from my car radio.

Soooo!!! Glad you’re back !!! It was a great day when my son called my cell to tell me to change the channel back to 96.7. One of the few things in life my teenage son and I have in common, now we talk about music again. Now maybe he can stop listening to rap crap!!!

Why is it that you always see 50 Mexicans at the voting booth, but not one fuckin spic at jury duty?

Why is it that when I go to Mexico, and order 5 Coronas in a bar, they then charge me a buck to use the bathroom?

And Why the fuck did clear channel take the ONLY rock station in Modesto and turn it into the fuckin tenth spanish station?

I’ve been streaming rock from all over the country at work since the sellout. I’m not just going to roll over for a belly rub now. Clear channel can suck by corn bread eating, flag waving all american cock.

Yeah, they’re playing rock…….on a 12 hour continuous loop. You can’t just hook an iPod up to a big antenna and call it a rock station.

Try streaming WMMR from philly. They wont play a song twice in a week.

First of all I’m so glad rock 96.7 rock is back in Modesto! I’m mexican and I was upset they put a 10th mexican station in Modesto. After reading all these comments I didn’t realize how many people hate mexicans, the reason there are so many mexican stations is because almost half of the modesto area population are Mexicans. Those who don’t like it too bad your going to have to live with it because pretty soon 75 percent of Modesto and California will be mexicans so don’t hate us just accept it because we aren’t going anywhere. But again I’m happy 96.7 is back!

Yea Jman, I hear you completely. It’s pretty ridiculous seeing all the hate towards one culture for no good reason whatsoever. Is their ever a good reason?

I’m not shocked, because I hear it all the time in Modesto, but it’s interesting to see what people write when no one else is looking.

I’m soo happy The Rock Station is back!!! but it’s sad to see allt he racism in this page, I’m mexican, and i do love my mexican music, but i did think it was too many stations, and disappointed that the only rock station in Modesto was taken away!! but their is no need to take out the anger with racism, mexican are always going to be around whether you like or not, so it’s time that people just get along, and also no need for us mexicans to be disrespectful in return, there is no room for spite in this country!!!! Love the rock station!!!

Thanks for coming back for us rockers! AKA white people. It’s a shame us white folk will soon be the minority because the mexican idiots dont know wtf birth control is.
FYI- jman2098-THATS WHY THEY ARE TAKIN OUR JOBS AND OUR STATE OVER!! we give them everything else when they come here anyways, so why not another station they can listen to in their language so they don’t have to learn ENGLISH!
Don’t make our rock go away again 96.7!!

It’s really funny how some of these ignorate people thing to blame mexicans for losing a rock station, it isn’t cool to blame another nationality for something they had nothing to do with.calling others name just let people know how dumb some people are or think, there is alot of mexican out there that love rock and are glad to see this station go back to the best rock in town.so up yours with attitude.

Does anyone know who sings the song She’s gone! I think that is the name of it. It starts out like this: She’s gone, out of my life, oh shes gone, I find it so hard to go on. Then the chours is Lady, can u forgive me, for all I’ve done to you? Lady, oh lady…………..Back in the 80’s I use to record songs off the radio and that happened to be one of them. I came across it the other day and listened to the tape to see what was on it and there it was. I have several people and no one knows. Some say it sounds like white lion some say white snake. I just dont know. ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW?

FINALLY!!!!! CC noticed that there are WHITE PEOPLE in the central valley. How many spanish stations have to be on the FM dial anyway? FIRST KNAC went Spanish, then KSJO. Finally us metal heads won one back. YEEEE HAAAA!!! Maybe we do not all have to go out & buy Sirius-XM Satellite Radios? Isn’t is the bottom line, Clear Channel ?????
