I have been officially on hold with Apple iPhone support line for 4 hours, 20 minutes and 46 seconds.  FTW!

I want to give up now, but I’ve come so far!

In the meantime, if anyone knows why my iPhone3g’s speaker doesn’t work, let me know. I can’t get it to play music, alert me when I have a message or make a sound when my phone rings. It’s not on silent. I can hear when I’m having a conversation with someone on the phone. I was even a good little Apple minion and tolled through there discussion forums. There seems to be a lot of unanswered questions regarding this problem.
