I was lounging around today after a long day of cleaning up my room, putting all my stuff away from my move, etc. I sat down and pulled up the TiVo to see see what it had recorded. I saw the movie Jeffrey on the screen but only the second half was recorded. I decided to watch it anyway.

It’s about this guy named Jeffrey (Steven Weber) who starts dating a guy name Steve (Michael T. Weiss) who he finds out later is HIV positive. Jeffrey decides to break up with Steve and become celibate because of this. At the end of the movie, a friend of Jeffrey’s named Darius, who is HIV positive, dies from complications due to AIDS. Darius comes to Jeffrey in an apparition and says some pretty profound yet relateable words.

First the Darius’s partner Sterling (Patrick Stewart) says to Jeffrey:

You know, Darius once said you were the saddest person he knew…because he was sick, he had a fatal disease, and he was a million times happier than you

Then Darius comes to him in an apparition and says:

Hate AIDS, Jeffrey, not life…just think of AIDS like the guest that won’t leave, the one we all hate, but you have to remember: Hey, it’s still our party

It’s still our party.
