Quote of the Moment by Jared Bagwell

I started posting some quotes in the middle bar of my blog.  I’m going to explain how each one inspired me as I post them up.

Current Quote of the Moment:

“You’re trash.” -Jared Philip Bagwell

Jared is actually a personal friend of mine.  He has been a very good friend through the thick and the thin.  We have a lot in common and can always laugh about pretty much anything.  We have the same sense of humor and I rarely ever feel insecure around him.

Every now and again, just to keep each other on our toes, one of us will announce to the other, “You’re trash…” The quote actually originated from someone he knows who would call out the most innocent people based on race or economic status using the word, “trash.” Of course this was usually done behind the back of the innocent bystander.

I’m not exactly sure why we do it.  Maybe to secretly make each other feel like crap, thus artificially inflating our own ego. It’s probably a reminder that none of us is necessarily any better than the other.  Keeping us on a level playing field. (Even though I’m better than that trash and he knows it.)

There are also those times where it is completely warranted for use in everyday conversation.  Say your dearest enemy got piss drunk and really embarrassed themselves, but won’t remember the next day.  Now you can let them know, in a smart-ass way.  For example: “Amy, you’re trash.  Consider being a slut a little less and having some self-respect a little more.”
