iPhone SDK

Today, Apple, Inc. announced to the press and public their software roadmap for the iPhone/iPod Touch.  The list of features is pretty impressive:

  • Full support for Microsoft Exchange and ActiveSync
  • Cisco IPsec VPN Support
  • WPA2 Enterprise Authentication
  • Remote Wipe for compromised iPhones
  • App Store - the EXCLUSIVE avenue for distributing SDK built applications to iPhone users

This software will be included in the 2.0 version of the iPhone firmware which will be released in June.  More than likely coinciding with Apple’s WWDC in June.

The Software Development Kit(SDK) for the iPhone/iPod Touch is available today as a free download(sans registration) and includes:

  • iPhone simulator
  • Xcode IDE
  • Samples
  • Debuggers
  • Access to Dev Support
