The Modesto Bee reported on the California Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage and posted it as the front-page story on their website. The article itself was mostly a string of quotes from either side of the issue, the real meat and potatoes was the comment section.
There are tons of fundamentalist religious folk who boast their republican party affinity (giving a bad name to republicans) screaming “God” this and “God” that. I posted a few responses to some of the crazys, but there were so many, my wrist started cramping around the fifth, so I wrote a general one.
I will post my response, and then the thread (so far). Here is a link to the article.
Here is my general response:
Bottom line, to all the religious fundamentalists that Modesto is so ripe with, the issue was the unconstitutionality of discriminating against someone based on their sexual preference.
Even if your religious beliefs are not in agreement with this ruling, they have no bearing over the rule of law. Our constitution protects the citizens from a religious faction controlling the US. That includes Christians, Jewish, Muslims and Buddhists.
You can scream my god this my god that, the fact remains, your god has nothing to do with the law. Let me also mention, if the fear of hell or the hope of life after death is the only thing that keeps you “moral” then you are probably a very weak person.
I’m more afraid of the religious fundamentalists taking over this country just as the the religious fundamentalists have taken over and controlled middle eastern countries.
You are more like them then you realize.
Here is the comment thread:

I was checking out the headlines at CNN and I saw an article about Joe Biden telling Bush that his commentary on Democrats basically being Hitler sympathizers was “bullshit”. At first they showed the word “bullshit” unfettered in the article title and story. After a refresh of the page, they changed it to “bulls**t.” I think that’s bullshit!
I hate censorship; with a passion.

Personally, I think marriage should be banned across the board in favor of domestic partnerships. Marriage is more of a religious institution and should be between people and their own psychotic religious beliefs.
But, this is definitely the next best thing. The California Supreme Court ruled that, “limiting the designation of marriage to a ‘union between a man and a woman’ is unconstitutional, and that the remaining statutory language must be understood as making the designation of marriage available to both opposite-sex and same-sex couples.” Score one for gays and rationals everywhere!
Now gays are one step closer to being able to destroy their lives and their relationships through the ideals of marriage and divorce in California.

Man, well first, a little background.
I started working out a year ago and now I’m on a great workout schedule that I started 6 months ago. If you are looking for a great way to sculpt your body with diet and excercise I recommend a book called, The Body Sculpting Bible for Men by James Villepigue and Hugo Rivera. It totally works. I’m about 5′11″ and used to weigh about 135, now.. 6 months later I weigh 160. All lean muscle with a very healthy diet.
Anyway, I go to a gym here in Modesto, and sometimes I find it extremely difficult to focus on my workouts. There are A LOT of hot guys who work out there. Some of them are great for inspiration, most of them I want to …. I’ll spare you the details.
The more I work out, the better I am at focusing, but it’s starting to reach a tipping point where I feel more confident, so now I am “looking” a bit more which, I think might be a little inappropriate for the gym I go to.
I am starting to realize that this blog post is getting a little inappropriate, so I’ll stop here. If you are interested in checking out that book though, I highly recommend it. Here is a link to it on Amazon.com. Good luck!
Note: to my atheist readers, the word Bible in the title is nothing to worry about, I’m sure you’re smart enough to figure that out though; you’ve made it this far!

A cleric from the Vatican Observatory said that the existence of aliens is possible and we should accept them as “extraterrestrial brothers” and sisters.
Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes said that the existence of ET is inline with creation, because they would still be God’s creatures, which sounds like a logic flaw.
So any intelligent being that comes to Earth has already been marked as God’s creation. Poor aliens.
Bad move on the Vatican’s part to acknowledge life outside of earth? Does this punch holes in their story of creation, since other planets weren’t mentioned in Genesis? If God has chosen Catholics as his beloved and saved people, could there be some other race of animals that he has also offered eternal life to?
I suppose this would be contingent upon actually finding life outside of Earth. Maybe this is damage control. Getting a bit ahead of the game and admitting ET life before we do finally find it.
Is the Pope an alien?
